China: Hong Kong stocks extend gains at open, Shanghai dips
[HONG KONG] Shares in Hong Kong climbed in the first few minutes of trade Friday, tracking another rally on Wall Street ahead of the release of US jobs data, but Shanghai retreated following a three-day surge.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.55 per cent, or 110.34 points, to 20,052.10.
In Shanghai the composite index slid 0.39 per cent, or 11.22 points, to 2,848.54, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.50 per cent, 8.80 points, to 1,749.33.
