THE euro surged above US$1.10 on Tuesday, climbing 0.8 per cent to its highest since Donald Trump was elected US president in November, as the dollar weakened broadly on worries over his disclosure of information to Russian officials.

Mr Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday to defend his decision to share intelligence with the Russians during a White House meeting last week, saying he had an "absolute right" to share "facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety".
