Europe: Stocks start the day slightly higher
[LONDON] European stock markets opened slightly higher on Monday following the long May 1 weekend, and with London closed for a bank holiday.
In initial deals, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index rose 0.46 per cent to 11,506.84 points and the CAC 40 in Paris added 0.28 per cent to 5,060.50 compared with Thursday's close.
Most Asian stocks made cautious gains following Friday's stronger Wall Street finish, and with markets in Tokyo, Thailand and Malaysia shut for public holidays.
