Europe: Stocks steady at open
[LONDON] Europe's main stock markets steadied at the start of trading on Wednesday following strong gains a day earlier.
London's FTSE 100 index rose 0.14 per cent to 7,005.01 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 inched up 0.04 per cent to 11,858.47 points and the CAC 40 in Paris fell 0.22 per cent to 5,106.26.
The Frankfurt and Paris stock markets had surged on Tuesday after a European Central Bank executive board member signalled that the ECB would temporarily ramp up its stimulus programme aimed at boosting the eurozone economy.
