European stock markets drop at open

[LONDON] Europe's main stock markets slid at the start of trading on Friday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index down 0.4 per cent at 6,956.40 points.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 shed 0.8 per cent to 10,634.99 points and the Paris CAC 40 index declined 0.4 per cent to 4,515.25 compared with Thursday's close.
