Hong Kong, Shanghai open flat ahead of China trade data

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks opened broadly flat Tuesday, as investors awaited the release of key Chinese trade data.

    The Hang Seng Index was up marginally 0.08 per cent, or 21.52 points, to 27,711.88.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.07 per cent, or 2.27 points, to 3,277.19, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, inched up 0.03 per cent, or 0.47 points, to 1,872.76.
