Hong Kong: Stocks end week with a rise
[Hong Kong] Hong Kong stocks ended a roller-coaster week with a gain Friday, although traders remain on edge over an expected hike in US interest rates, which would see borrowing costs advance in the city.
The Hang Seng index added 0.37 per cent, or 81.33 points, to 22,344.21. Hong Kong's monetary policy is linked to that of the United States.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.49 per cent or 15.59 points, to 3,192.86 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.26 per cent, or 5.58 points, to 2,111.28.
