Hong Kong: Stocks end with losses, eyes on Powell

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks sank on Tuesday after a recent rally as profit-taking offset a strong lead from Wall Street, with attention turning to new Federal Reserve boss Jerome Powell's congressional debut later in the day.

The Hang Seng Index fell 0.73 per cent, or 229.94 points, to end at 31,268.66.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.13 per cent, or 37.50 points, to 3,292.07. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.34 per cent, or 6.10 points, to close at 1,808.92.
