Hong Kong: Stocks extend gains at open
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks on Friday built on the previous day's surge, tracking a positive lead from Wall Street on hopes for China-US trade talks while news of a slowdown in US inflation lowered expectations for interest rate tightening.
The Hang Seng Index added 0.80 per cent, or 215.30 points, to 27,229.79 in early trade.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was flat, inching down 0.48 points to 2,686.09, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.10 per cent, or 1.36 points, to 1,414.93.
