Hong Kong: Stocks open lower

    [HONG KONG] Shares retreated soon after opening in Hong Kong on Wednesday, with energy firms taking another hit as oil fell again following data showing a pick-up in US inventories.

    The Hang Seng Index dipped 0.13 per cent, or 29.70 points, to 22,969.23.

    But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was slightly higher, edging up 2.31 points to 3,092.02, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gained 0.10 per cent, or 2.09 points, to 2,026.14.
