Hong Kong: Stocks open lower, Shanghai slightly up
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong shares retreated in the opening minutes of trade Monday but mainland Chinese shares were slightly higher, tracking gains in US markets last week.
The Hang Seng Index opened 0.3 per cent lower, or 64.07 points, to 19,788.13.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.03 per cent, or 0.83 points, to 2,826.31 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.23 per cent, or 4.10 points, to 1,799.05.
