Hong Kong: Stocks open slightly higher

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks opened with small gains Wednesday ahead of the release of Chinese economic growth data later in the day.

The Hang Seng Index edged up 0.10 per cent, or 30.82 points, to 30,160.69.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.11 per cent, or 3.45 points, to 3,250.15, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, was flat, inching up 0.29 points to 1,760.31.
