[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks fell in the first few minutes of trade Thursday following losses in New York and Europe as falling oil prices dragged further on energy firms.

The Hang Seng Index shed 0.18 per cent, or 41.72 points, to 22,779.06.

And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.40 per cent, or 12.44 points, to 3,073.44, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.53 per cent, or 10.75 points, to 2,019.53.
