SGX to waive buy-in penalty following Thursday outage
SINGAPORE Exchange (SGX) will waive the buy-in penalty for shortsellers who are unable to cover their positions following Thursday's market outage, SGX chief executive Loh Boon Chye said in a press conference on Friday.
"The amount of short selling is insignificant. That said, we will waive the buy-in penalty," Mr Loh said.
Trading on SGX's securities platform was suspended after 11.38 am on Thursday, and reopened only on Friday morning, following technical probems with generating trade confirmation messages.
