[SHANGHAI] Shanghai stocks closed slightly higher on Wednesday due to late buying after a day of volatile trading, as investors wondered if the market could stay above the key 3,000-point level.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.35 per cent, or 10.60 points, to 3,009.96.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gained 1.16 per cent, or 21.75 points, to 1,902.53.
