Singapore shares close flat on Monday

SINGAPORE stocks finished flat on Monday, with the Straits Times Index adding just 0.05 per cent, or 1.48 points to end at 3,219.16.

Losers outnumbered gainers 212 to 165, as some 1.05 billion shares worth S$801 million in total changed hands.

The most actively traded counter was Rex International with 74.44 million shares changing hands, rising 1.84 per cent or 0.2 Singapore cent to 11.1 Singapore cents. Other actives included Nico Steel with 49.4 million shares traded, flat at 0.3 Singapore cent; and ThaiBev, with 22.41 million units changing hands at 69.5 Singapore cents apiece, up 2.21 per cent or 1.5 Singapore cents.

Among active index stocks, DBS Group Holdings inched down 0.77 per cent, or 20 Singapore cents, to end at S$25.83. OCBC Bank rose 0.62 per cent, or seven Singapore cents, to S$11.36.
