Singapore shares end the day flat
AFTER a slow start to the day, Singapore equities ended Monday's session flat even though local earnings have been strong.
The benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) dipped 0.97 points or 0.03 per cent to finish at 3,419.13.
Turnover came in at 2.2 billion units worth S$1.2 billion. Excluding warrants, gainers trumped losers 251 to 217, indicating mixed trading.
Among the actives were Cosco Shipping International, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and Genting Singapore.
CMC Markets analyst Margaret Yang said in a morning note: "In Singapore, earnings from UOL group, Sats, Citi Development, GLP and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding have all surpassed market expectations. So far, 14 STI components have beat whereas seven have missed market consensus, according to Bloomberg data."
