Singapore shares inch higher by 0.08% on Tuesday's open
SINGAPORE shares inched higher on Tuesday at market open, as markets elsewhere in the region reported mixed results.
The benchmark Straits Times Index edged higher by 0.08 per cent, or 2.51 points to reach 3,248.86 at 9.02am.
Some 72 million shares worth S$104.5 million changed hands, with gainers beating losers 69 to 48.
Top gainers included United Overseas Bank (UOB) and electronics services provider Venture Corporation. Top losers included property manager United Industrial Corporation Limited (UIC) and City Developments Limited.
Elsewhere, Japanese and South Korean equities edged higher, while those in Australia lost ground, Bloomberg reported.
