Singapore shares open 0.2% up on Tuesday

SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.2 per cent higher on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index advancing 5.78 points to 2,876.62 as at 9.02am.

Asian markets were mixed, focusing on central bank decisions in Australia and India.

In Singapore, about 37.3 million shares worth S$36.5 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.98 per share.

Top stocks by value traded were Singtel, DBS, UOB, City Developments and SingPost.

Gainers outnumbered losers 76 to 62, or about five up for every four down.
