Singapore shares open 0.4% higher on Wednesday

SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.4 per cent higher on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index moving up 12.86 points to 3,223.97 as at 9.02am. The blue-chip index was buoyed after Wall Street edged higher overnight as traders digested a slew of corporate earnings.

About 65.3 million shares worth S$115.5 million changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$1.77 per share.

The most actively traded counter was Noble Group, which rose S$0.003 to S$0.132 with 10 million shares traded. Other actives included Disa and Loyz Energy.

Gainers outnumbered losers 73 to 55, or about four up for every three down.
