Singapore shares open 4.16 points higher on Friday

THE local market opened 0.1 per cent higher on Friday, with the Straits Times Index gaining 4.16 points to 3,360.53 as at 9:03am.

The blue-chip index managed to shake off concerns over a commodity rout as well as Wall Street's third straight day of decline on Thursday.

About 97.2 million shares worth S$101.7 million changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$1.05 per share.

The most actively traded stock was Global Logistic Properties, which rose S$0.07 to S$2.59 with 14.2 million shares traded. Other actives included Xpress Holdings and Foreland FabricTech.

Gainers outnumbered losers 85 to 67.
