SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.13 per cent lower on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index (STI) slipping 3.86 points to 3,053.05.

This comes amid a retreat by Wall Street and Tokyo stocks as petroleum-linked shares fell on lower oil prices, and as the yen jumped on US and European political uncertainty.

About 58.8 million shares worth S$50.9 million in total changed hands as at 9.00am in Singapore.

The most actively traded counter was Ezra, which fell by some 6 per cent to S$0.028. Other actives included Equation and Serrano.

Gainers outnumbered losers 66 to 46.
