THE Singapore market opened 0.37 per cent higher on Tuesday, as a market lacking in catalysts looked to strong gains in Asian stocks on Monday and US markets overnight fuelled by a rebound in commodities.

The Straits Times Index gained 11.85 points to 3,208.51 as at 9.01am.

Some 99.2 million shares worth S$130 million changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 108 to 52.

The most actively traded stocks by value included Noble, which was up 1.72 per cent to 59 Singapore cents; GLP, which rose 1.3 per cent to S$2.40; and Stratech Group, which put on 5.2 per cent to 8.1 cents during the first minute of trading.
