SINGAPORE shares opened higher on Wednesday, up 6.05 points or 0.21 per cent, to 2,845.49.

As of 9.01am, 47.7 million shares worth S$24.8 million had changed hands. Gainers outnumbered losers 68 to 41.

Overnight, there was little movement on Wall Street where the Dow ended up 0.13 per cent, while the S&P 500 lost 0.18 per cent and the Nasdaq dropped 0.45 per cent, as markets waited anxiously for the Federal Reserve to provide guidance on the prospect of US rate hikes this year.
