Singapore shares open higher on Wednesday; STI up 0.6%

SINGAPORE stocks opened higher on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index advancing 0.6 per cent, or 19.21 points to 3,434.28 as at 9.01am.

This came as Wall Street rebounded by the closing bell to post solid gains overnight, closing in positive territory for the third straight session.

On the Singapore bourse, about 52.7 million shares worth S$109.3 million changed hands. Gainers outnumbered losers 91 to 34.

The most actively traded counters were ISR Capital, which was flat at 0.5 Singapore cent with 5.6 million shares traded; and AusGroup which rose 7 per cent, or 0.3 Singapore cent to 4.6 Singapore cents with 4.5 million shares traded.

Other active index stocks included DBS which was up 0.94 per cent to S$27.89; and OCBC Bank which was up 0.88 per cent to S$12.68.
