Singapore shares open marginally up on Tuesday

SINGAPORE stocks opened higher on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index gaining 0.22 points, or 0.01 per cent, to 2,952.41 at 9.01am.

Gainers outnumbered losers 64 to 56, or eight up for every seven down, after 73.1 million shares worth S$71.9 million changed hands.

The banks were active climbers out of the gate. OCBC Bank increased by 0.5 per cent, or five Singapore cents, to S$9.18, while DBS Group added 0.7 per cent, or 12 Singapore cents, to S$17.79. United Overseas Bank gained 0.2 per cent, or five Singapore cents, to change hands at S$21.01.
