Singapore shares open up on Thursday
SINGAPORE stocks opened higher on Thursday, with the Straits Times Index moving up 0.1 per cent, or 3.67 points to 3,240.32 as at 9.03am.
This comes on the back of all three major US equities indices hitting record closing highs for the third day in a row on Wednesday, as data on the services sector added to signs of economic strength and prospects for earnings.
On the Singapore bourse, about 54 million shares worth S$87.7 million in total changed hands. Gainers outnumbered losers 70 to 56.
The most actively traded counter was Alliance Mineral, which fell S$0.01 to S$0.29 with 4.9 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Thai Beverage and Wilmar International.
