Singapore: STI opens 8.7 points higher

SINGAPORE share prices opened higher on Thursday with the Straits Times Index (STI) up 8.7 points or 0.25 per cent to 3,461.87 as at 9.01am.
Top gainers in early-morning trade included Great Eastern Holding, DBS Group Holdings and Challenger.
Some 41.8 million shares worth S$61.3 million changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 88 to 44.
