Singapore's STI up as DJIA trades in record territory
SINGAPORE'S Straits Times Index opened up on Tuesday by 3.76 points or 0.12 per cent at 3,265.86 points as at 9.02am as the Dow Jones Industrial Average index advanced to record territory overnight on Wall Street.
Some 55.8 million shares changed hands, with trades totalling S$63.6 million in value. Gainers outnumbered losers 80 to 41.
DBS Bank and CDL advanced as among top traded stocks.
Dow Jones Industrial Average surged past the 20,000-mark overnight, finishing up 0.68 per cent at 22,557.6 points. Upbeat expectations on Q3 corporate earnings helped investors shake off nerves from a massive shooting in Las Vegas.
