Tokyo: Benchmark index closes down on strong yen, oil dive

[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark stock index closed lower on Monday with exporters hit by a stronger yen and energy firms tumbling on lower oil prices.

The key Nikkei 225 slipped 0.13 per cent, or 24.33 points, to 18,356.89, while the broader Topix index of all first-section issues ended up 0.34 per cent, or 5.05 points, at 1,469.58.
