Tokyo: Shares close higher after Yellen comments

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares rose in thin trading Tuesday as the market digested comments by Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen, who said overnight that any US interest rate hike would be gradual.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange climbed 0.58 per cent, or 95.42 points, to close at 16,675.45, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.63 per cent, or 8.34 points, to 1,340.77.
