Tokyo: Shares edge higher before central bank meetings
[TOKYO] Tokyo shares edged higher in early trade Tuesday, fluctuating between positive and negative territory as investors largely kept to the sidelines ahead of central bank meetings in the US and Japan later this week.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange ticked up 0.12 per cent, or 19.94 points, to 16,039.12 minutes after the opening bell, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was 0.05 per cent, or 0.63 points, higher at 1,285.17.
