Tokyo: Shares end down on profit-taking

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks ended lower on Wednesday as investors locked in profit after the benchmark Nikkei index hit a fresh 27-year high earlier this week.
The key Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.66 per cent or 159.66 points to 24,110.96, while the broader Topix index gave up 1.17 per cent or 21.30 points at 1,802.73.
