Tokyo: Shares end up 0.44%

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks added 0.44 per cent Wednesday, adding further fire to a seven-year closing high, as the Republican Party's victory in the US mid-term election drove up the dollar.
The Nikkei index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 74.85 points to 16,937.32, while the Topix index of all first-section issues rose 3.11 points or 0.23 per cent to 1,371.76.
