Tokyo: Shares open higher

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened higher on Thursday as investors picked up exporters on a weaker yen.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.52 per cent, or 86.82 points, to 16,926.82 in the first few minutes of trading while the broader Topix index was up 0.48 per cent, or 6.44 points, at 1,348.79.
