Tokyo: Shares open higher as US production picks up

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened higher on Tuesday with investor sentiment buoyed by US data showing a rebound in the manufacturing sector.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.28 per cent, or 47.11 points, to 16,645.78 in the first few minutes of trade, while the Topix index of all first section shares was up 0.17 per cent, or 2.28 points, at 1,333.00.
