Tokyo: Shares open lower despite Wall Street gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened lower on Thursday, despite a positive lead from Wall Street as investors worried about uncertainty in Europe following Britain's vote to leave the EU.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 0.31 per cent, or 32.18 points, to 15,346.81 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.28 per cent, or 3.42 points, to 1,230.78.
