Tokyo: Shares open lower on shortened week
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday as investors looked to major events slated for next week while this week has been cut to three business days as the Olympics is set to start.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index dropped 1.34 per cent or 376.08 points to 27,627.00, while the broader Topix index lost 0.95 per cent or 18.28 points to 1,915.99.
