Tokyo: Stocks at six-month high after US presidential debate
[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark stock index closed at its highest level in six months on Thursday as market favourite Hillary Clinton was widely seen as having beaten rival Donald Trump in the last US presidential debate.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 1.39 per cent, or 236.59 points, to 17,235.50, its best finish since late April, while the Topix index of all first-section issues ended up 1.00 per cent, or 13.60 points, at 1,370.80.
