Tokyo: Stocks close down, Toshiba dives

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday as the yen strengthened, while Toshiba plunged eight per cent after announcing it had requested a delay in filing its earnings report.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 1.13 per cent, or 220.17 points, to 19,238.98, while the Topix index of all first-section issues lost 0.97 per cent, or 15.08 points, to 1,539.12.
