Tokyo: Stocks close flat as rally fizzles

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed flat on Wednesday as a rally earlier in the session fizzled on a stronger yen and dipping oil prices.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged up 0.08 per cent, or 13.82 points, to 16,579.01. The broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.04 per cent, or 0.60 points, to 1,334.30.
