Tokyo: Stocks close higher on US-China trade rumours

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed higher on Friday, tracking gains on Wall Street as investors took heart from a report the US could lift trade tariffs on China.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 1.29 per cent or 263.80 points to end at 20,666.07 while the broader Topix index was up 0.93 per cent or 14.39 points at 1,557.59.
