Tokyo: Stocks close lower after Wall Street falls

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks fell on Tuesday as declines on Wall Street following weak US construction data triggered profit-taking.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index lost 0.44 per cent, or 95.76 points, to close at 21,726.28, while the broader Topix index was down 0.51 per cent, or 8.36 points, to 1,619.23.
