[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened fractionally lower on Wednesday as the market paused for breath after the Topix index hit a 10-year high and a scandal over Kobe Steel weighed on investors' minds.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.04 per cent, or 8.76 points, to 20,814.75 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.01 per cent or 0.21 points, at 1,694.93.
