Tokyo: Stocks open 0.72% higher

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened 0.72 per cent higher on Wednesday, as US stocks held their gain from the prior session and as the Bank of Japan is scheduled to start a two-day policy meeting.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 141.23 points to 19,771.86, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.57 per cent, or 8.98 points, to 1,595.09.
