Tokyo: Stocks open down as yen firms

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Friday as the yen firmed while investors were evaluating corporate results.
The Nikkei 225 index lost 0.10 per cent, or 19.91 points, to 19,941.64 in the first minute of trading, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.24 per cent, or 3.82 points, to 1,583.04.
