[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened flat on Thursday as the strong yen weighed on exporters and doubts about the prospects for US President Donald Trump's broader agenda clouded trade.

Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.02 per cent, or 3.47 points, to 19,044.85 in early trade, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.12 per cent, or 1.86 points, at 1,528.34.
