Tokyo: Stocks open higher after new Wall Street records

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened sharply up on Thursday after Wall Street powered to fresh highs on renewed expectations for President Donald Trump's economic policies.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index climbed 1.19 per cent, or 230.09 points, to 19,623.63 in the first few minutes of trade while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 1.24 per cent, or 19.25 points, at 1,572.34.
