Tokyo: Stocks open higher on easing trade fears

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday, boosted by signs of easing in US-China trade tensions and robust Japanese economic data.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.80 per cent, or 179.80 points, to 22,784.41 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.92 per cent, or 15.49 points, at 1,706.81.
