Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Tuesday
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Tuesday as exporters extended gains with the yen dropping to its lowest level against the dollar in over five months.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which closed at a nine-month high on Monday on a three-day winning streak, added 0.22 per cent, or 39.49 points, to 17,712.11 in the first few minutes of trading.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues rose 0.37 per cent, or 5.13 points, to 1,405.13.
